Aura to host supper theater and jazz session
Aura- the Restrobar at the designer boutique ecotel, Rodas at Powai will host a supper theatre and a jazz session between July 14 and July 17.
On July 14 th and 15 th, a play ' The Mahatma and the Poetess ' shall be enacted by Ms Mrinalini Sarabhai and Tom Alter. The 45-minute play, conceptualized and directed by the duo is the adaptation of the book by the same name. The book has been compiled by E.S. Reddy and edited by Smt. Mrinalini Sarabhai.
Known as the Nightingale of India, Sarojini Naidu was a distinguished poet, renowned freedom fighter and one of the great orators of her time. In August 1914, she met Mahatma Gandhi, who totally directed her energy towards the fight for freedom. This resulted in a series of letters exchanged between Gandhiji and Sarojini Naidu till Gandhiji's death in 1948. These letters tell the tale of the freedom struggle, and the tale of a deep, probing relationship of amazing honesty, beauty, humor and truth.
On July 16 and 17, Aura shall host Jazz and poetry session in an event titled 'All that Jazz'.
Tom Alter will recite the poems of TS Eliot, Dylan Thomas and Bob Dylan. Rajeev Raja will be accompanying Tom on the jazz flute. The duration of this jugalbandi will be forty-five minutes.
The starting time for all the four performances is 8.30 pm. The charges are Rs 900 per person (AI) which include unlimited cocktails (IMFL), beer, snacks and a lavish buffet spread.
