Rodas
celebrates Holi with downtrodden kids
The Green Team of Rodas, the designer ecotel at
Hiranandani Powai celebrated holi in a unique way by using
herbal and naturally extracted colors with 50 orphan children
from Don Bosco, Wadala.
Said the General Manager of Rodas, Ranjan Gupta, "We
at Rodas have always been at the forefront of various environment
issues. We have a 'Green Team', which initiates special steps
on environment and also educates the general public on the
same."

Speaking about the eco-holi he said, "Every
year we do this program with children. We hope to create awareness
amongst the children on effects of chemical colors and how
we all can have a safe and happy holi".

Colors which are made of toxic chemicals can
have undesirable effects on the human body and skin. There
have been many instances where people have lost their vision
when toxic colors have entered their eyes.
However if the colors used are non-toxic, they do not cause
any harm. The colors used for celebrating eco holi are produced
by blending natural dyes extracted from wild herbs with natural
ingredients. The end product is scented with essential oils
to make it mildly fragrant.
This is a part of Rodas's environment initiatives. The other
efforts to improve the environment include managing the largest
private owned vermiculture pit in the city, undertaking public
awareness campaigns on days like 'World Earth Day', 'World
No Tobacco Day', 'World Environment Day', taking special care
to use only environment friendly products in our hotel etc."
